Let me introduce you to Valeria, our rock star who’s kicking regression’s butt!
When Valeria first came to us, she was struggling with a two-year regression with speech, life skills, and sensory processing. This really impacted her daily life and growth, making it difficult to socialize, succeed in school, and see progress in her other therapies for Down Syndrome.
Of course, this was tough for mom and dad to see happening. “It was very stressful. As parents, it was frustrating to see her regress and lose a lot of the early speech and life skills. There was a sentiment of hopelessness as we had already tried so many options to address her regression. In a sense, the regression was more difficult to deal with as a family than the Down Syndrome diagnosis at birth because there were little to no answers as to why it was happening”.
When they started noticing Valeria’s regression, they tried everything. From psychiatry to occupational therapy, to working with a dietician alongside functional medicine. Then they ultimately decided to try IVIG infusions at the Down Syndrome clinic at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital…Then they found Hope Chiropractic. “The one difference we see at Hope is the problems are addressed directly, at the root of the problem, and focus on treating the issues that can vary day to day, on top of her general health concerns”.
“From the initial evaluation and Dr. Nick’s interpretation of the scans, we were able to understand many of Valeria’s behaviors and why she would react to things the way that she did”. Over the first couple of months, they noticed Valeria was sleeping better, not using her noise protection headphones as often, and she was having less meltdowns!
Now, Valeria’s quality of life has greatly improved! Mom has noticed she’s able to enjoy social life with family and friends, her behavior and performance in school has improved, she’s able to control emotions, and most importantly, she’s being a kid again and talking more!
Great job, mom!
